About a week ago I was sitting at home, minding my business when my Internet connection decided to crap out again. It has been doing this for a few weeks and I was getting kind of tired of it. The problem seemed to only be limited to my wireless clients though. If I plugged something into the LAN ports on the back, everything would be fine.
Usually when something like this would happen a quick reboot was all I needed to get going again. This time, that wasn't the case. The SSID stopped broadcasting. The transmitter just stopped working after only 8 months of use.
I tried flashing it with new firmware, but that didn't help. The transmitter must have burned out or something. Either way, do you remember when routers would last longer than one year? I have a Linksys WRT-54G that is still going strong after 5 years. What gives?
The router I was using was an ASUS RT-N12, and I decided to take it out back to play a little router T-Ball. Enjoy!
