This week we take a look at a really cool, easy to setup two-factor authentication tool that you can use with your Microsoft RAS VPN system. Actually it isn't limited to that, as it supports pretty much anything that supports RADIUS, but RAS is what we used it for. The tool is called Phone Factor. Here is a description from their website:

By leveraging the user’s existing phone, PhoneFactor provides unmatched convenience for users and a cost-effective, secure platform for enterprises, government agencies, healthcare organizations, and financial institutions. With multiple out-of-band methods (phone call, text message, and push) and an OATH passcode option, PhoneFactor provides flexibility for users and a single multi-factor platform for IT to manage.

The best part about Phone Factor is that it is free for up to 25 users, and you don't have to buy any security tokens or key fobs. All users need is their telephone to verify they are who they say they are.
